Perkwave Merchant Account Program

The Best Credit Card Program in the USA

Future-Proof Your Business with this Cutting-Edge Payment Technology

As mobile payments become more common, it is critical that you are able to accept these payment types in addition to credit and debit cards. The Harbortouch Perkwave™ terminal includes a customer facing card reader with near field communication (NFC) technology so that your customers can simply wave their mobile payments to pay. In addition to all of the usual magnetic-stripe credit and debit cards the Perkwave terminal accepts EMV-enabled credit cards, chip cards or “smart cards”. All of the major card brands including MasterCard, Visa, American Express, and Discover, have announced that they will be migrating to EMV technology within the very near future due to the added security afforded by these cards. Merchants who don’t accept EMV payments will be non-compliant once these changes go into effect. With Harbortouch Perkwave, you can future-proof your business and stay on the cutting-edge of payments technology. As an incentive to migrate your business to the new EMV requirements we are excited to be able to provide you the Perkwave Terminal and Contactless Reader for Free just for using our excellent low cost processing program! That is a savings of over $600 if you were to purchase the equipment on your own.

Prepare for the Shift to EMV

The mobile payments revolution is not only on its way … it is here today. Is your business ready? Smart phone manufacturers are now including NFC capability within their most recent model introductions. The number of NFC enabled phones is estimated to reach 1 billion (with a b!) by 2017 and it is estimated that 65% of consumers will use their phones to pay for goods by 2020. EMV technology is currently the standard in over 100 countries and continents including Canada, Europe, Latin America and Asia. Close to 50% of total payments in circulation are EMV cards and over 75% of the POS terminals installed globally accept EMV. The United States is one of the last countries to implement EMV technology but that is about to change. This technology is being quickly advanced with the assistance of very strong support from some well-known and well-financed companies including Google, Verizon, and AT&T. As you visit some of the major retail chains you are starting to see that they have been installing new equipment at their checkout lanes and the primary reason for that is because they know that it is a requirement to become EMV compliant within the next couple of years and they also recognize the importance of being able to accept every payment type in the marketplace. Generation X customers are not like your father’s American Express cardholder or your grandfather’s Diners Card shopper. They want to make their purchase quick by waving their phone and paying with their PayPal account, Google Wallet, or new payment types you haven’t even heard of yet. Sure Perkwave is ready to accept Mom’s Visa Rewards Card but it is also ready to accept everything else (except cash!). Just take a look at the card types at the bottom of this page that Perkwave can process.

The Great EMV Liability Switcharooni

As the merchant this is probably the most compelling reason why you have to switch out your existing credit card processing equipment for a new EMV compliant terminal like Perkwave. When the major card brands shift the liability from the card issuer to the merchant on October 1, 2015 if you are not processing with an EMV compliant terminal then you the merchant will assume 100% of the liability for data breaches and chargebacks – and that’s not a good situation to be in. Here is the exact quote from Visa which you will find on page 4 of the Visa U.S. Merchant EMV Chip Acceptance Readiness Guide which you can read in its entirety in the link on the right side of this page. “Effective October 1, 2015, Visa’s global counterfeit liability shift will be instituted in the U.S. for POS transactions. With this liability shift, the party that is the cause of a chip transaction not occurring (i.e., either the issuer or the merchant’s acquirer processor) will be held financially liable for any resulting card present counterfeit fraud losses. The shift helps to better protect all parties by encouraging chip transactions that use unique, dynamic authentication data.” So even if you are happy with your current couple of year old Hypercom, VeriFone, Equinox, First Data, or similar terminal that is not EMV compliant then it is now time to make that switch for the future security and profitability of your business. This financial movement simply can’t be ignored.

The Perkwave Loyalty Platform

Early in 2014 the Perkwave loyalty program will be unveiled. Currently under development and shrouded in secrecy (although here are a few hints) Perkwave Loyalty will be able to tap into the tremendous capabilities of the Perkwave platform. Merchants will be able to send customized offers to potential customers and provide a robust loyalty program to your current patrons. This program will incorporate various other mobile loyalty and offer programs to create an all-in-one dashboard for consumers. So now you know where we got the name Perkwave – Perk for the extra perks that you and your customers will receive and Wave for the ability to just wave an NFC enabled card or mobile phone to make a purchase.

Who is Providing This Service?

I am glad you asked. Our Perkwave program is a collaboration of several fine companies. The first is Harbortouch (formerly United Bank Card) who is a real innovator in the merchant account business. In 1994 United Bank Card was the first company in the industry to introduce the free terminal placement program which turned the merchant account acquirer industry upside down and led to others to become followers. Then in 2011 Harbortouch shocked the long established POS industry by introducing the first Free Touch screen POS program designed for restaurants and retail stores. Today Harbortouch has well over 100,000 merchant clients processing over $9 billion a year in volume. Harbortouch will provide you with outstanding 24/7/365 toll-free technical support from Allentown, PA. Your sales will be processed by Paymentech who is a global leader in payment processing since 1985. In fact they process over 1,200 transactions per second. The banking functions of your account is provided by First National Bank of Omaha which is the largest privately held bank in the United States and also the first bank in the U.S. to process credit cards way back in 1953. The setup of your account and ongoing account management is provided by Credit Card Processing Services located in Doylestown, PA. Since 1996 CCPS has been providing excellent merchant accounts to thousands of small to medium sized merchants just like you. So as you can see we have the A-Team waiting to process your Perkwave transactions.
